President's Message

January 2023

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is doing well! Hopefully your hives are doing well despite Mother Nature’s roller coaster ride!

It is once again time to renew your LCBA membership and as always the 2023 calendar is pretty full with speakers, demos, classes, activities and events, so you don’t want to miss out on any of the happenings and continue to receive the newsletter. Renewal should be by March 1st.

Anyone interested in selling honey at the fair must also be a member by March 1st and attend 4 member meetings by July.
Beginner Beekeeper Classes start in March. Members wanting a refresher may attend for free.
If you know of someone between the ages of 11 and 18 who is interested in beekeeping, have
them check out our Youth Education Programs. All the information on selection criteria, process and application is on LCBA’s website. March 1st is the deadline to apply.

The next Members’ Meeting will be on Friday, January 13th at 7pm with an open forum hosted by Denzil. So bring your stories, mysteries, quandaries, questions and anything else you might want to talk about concerning your bees.

Your Newbee President,
Marilyn

Building Fund

LCBA is dedicating it’s fundraising efforts this year to raise funds for a permanent home for Lorain County Beekeepers Association. Wouldn’t it be great to have our meetings, education and other beekeeping activities in a home away from home? Looking for ways to donate or assist in fundraising?? See Sheila St. Clair at all members meetings to share your ideas!
