Lorain County Fair 2023

177th Annual Fair - August  20-27, 2023

Dear LCBA Members:
We are encouraging all members, even the new beekeepers to enter their honey in the honey judging at the Lorain County Fair this year. Everyone should be able to pull 3 lbs of honey from their hive and see how their hive is producing!  Please remember the deadline for entering product at the fair is August 5 and this is done directly through the Lorain County Fair, please see their website for an entry form and rules for entering if you are interested. If you are able to get enough honey, even 20 bottles, you are welcome to sell at the fair.  Please review the labeling requirements that are in the Beekeeping for Dummies book and please ask any executive member if you have any questions!  If you are interested in selling at the fair, you will need to review the above forms and deadlines for entries! Everyone is encouraged to participate, as Denzil would say, "and earn back some of your expenses!"

Now for the fair, the executive board has reviewed the rules for selling honey this year, see link below for the new rules for everyone to review.  The rules that have changed are highlighted in red so they are easier to find.  There is also an intent to sell honey form which must be completed by August 5 and in the hands of Bren Lieby. The cost of 1 lb. on honey will be $13 per pound, along with LCBA retaining 20% of your honey sales.  All product prices being sold must have a price tag on it and abide by the LCBA Honey Price Sheet.  If your product  is not listed on the honey price guidelines sheet, you may price your honey product higher.

We are basing the volunteer sign-up sheet on the number of sellers from last year, so all persons interested in selling honey will need to sign up for 12 hours.  Once we have the number of sellers verified, the number may be adjusted to more or less hours needed to run the booth.

For the honey booth sign-up sheet , see link below for hours.  Honey booth sales sign up is first come, first serve, so please have your primary and alternate times in mind when you sign up.
